About the Position: Serves as the Human Resources Specialist (Military) with the Office of the G1, Army Retirement Service, located at Arlington, Virginia.

Duties

Subject matter expert for the Army's Survivor Benefits Program (SBP) administrative correction board, designated by the Secretary of the Army to review and adjudicate claims of government administrative error of SBP elections. Interpret, develop, implement, and accomplish a variety of staff assignments in a wide range of survivor benefit program areas. Ensures the Army SBP program conforms to applicable federal and Army regulations and with current federal and Army standards of practice. Develop new and innovative programs and techniques to enhance program effectiveness. Develop specific guidance regarding processing of SBP elections in cases of active-duty deaths and mentally incompetent Soldiers. Represent the agency on these topics in Army and public sector meetings, conferences, workshops, and DoD and joint service committees and advisory boards.

  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
