Duties
Serves as J1 Military Liaison in the DLA Human Resources Military Personnel Branch, responsible for supporting all aspects of military service personnel assignments, officer and enlisted, for the assigned military service branch.
Manages evaluations, transfers, promotions, separations, reenlistments, awards, training, and related services for military personnel assigned to DLA.
Advises and guides individual service members, supervisors, senior leaders, and executives in the implementation of policies and regulations and briefs various levels of management on all aspects of military personnel.
Performs in-depth analysis related to billet management, nominative assignment process, performance reports, promotions, awards, decoration and recognition programs, and sponsorship, training, and selection boards.
Manages projects to analyze new or changing requirements and their impact on organizational effectiveness and provides recommendations for improved functioning, policy changes, or restructuring existing processes to accommodate new requirements.
Manages the military leave program and processes evaluation reports for officer and enlisted personnel.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Human Resources Specialist (Military), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Assisting in the analysis of military personnel programs and recommending changes to ensure compliance with organizational policies and objectives.
- Advising management, servicemembers, or employees on military personnel regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Processing or performing administrative support for military personnel actions, such as evaluations, transfers, promotion, separations, re-enlistments, awards, and training.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
