The selected candidate will serve to perform a variety of assignments supporting DCSA's nationwide personnel security, suitability and investigations programs. Duties

As a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties:- Representing DCSA to the government-wide Suitability, Security and Credentialing (SSC) community. - Establishing and maintaining a working liaison relationship with management officials and their staffs responsible for the operation of department and agency SSC programs. - Providing on-going advice and assistance to departments and agencies for operating their personnel SSC programs in compliance with all applicable requirements, and for taking appropriate action in specific cases. - Initiating, monitoring, and editing support service agreements such as memoranda of understanding and special agency checks to meet specialized customer agency investigative needs. - Providing agencies with statistical profiles and reports from various systems to help agencies manage their SSC programs. - Providing assistance to agencies on information technology programs used for personnel security, such as the National Background Investigations Services (NBIS), Personnel Investigations Processing System (PIPS), the electronic questionnaire for investigations processing (e-QIP) or any subsequently implemented investigation systems, which marketing and DCSA products and services.

  • Required to attain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certifications within two (2) years of entry on duty.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade (GS/GG-12) in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Providing customer service. Writing communications, agreements or guidance. Interpreting investigations policy. Assisting customers implement or use investigations systems. Working with and reporting investigations metrics and data. Experience with PIPS procedures and processes. Utilizing customer-facing portion of automated systems (i.e. eQIP, PIPS, CVS, FTS, NBIS, or similar systems). Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
