This position is located in the Las Cruces District Office, Operations, GIS and Engineering in the New Mexico State Office, serving as the principle advisor on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to the office manager and resources staff.
This position is open to Bureau of Land Management current permanent employees on a competitive appointment and employees that meet Land Management Authority.
Duties
Will be responsible for the acquisition and management of a wide range of spatial information required to support the management of public lands over a wide geographic area.
Provide support to business operations and natural resources management in the BLM using technical skills in the geographic and geospatial computer application disciplines.
Apply innovative solutions to novel GIS problems, issues, or projects.
Design new methods where established methods and procedures are inapplicable or are unavailable.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying.
To qualify for the grade GS-12, you must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) designing/managing geospatial databases including project quality control and/or research; (2) collaborating with others in developing and/or implementing geospatial applications or data; (3) presenting the organization's technical and/or policy information in conferences/meetings; (4) assisting with planning and/or management activities.
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. Award SF-50s will not be accepted unless they show title, series, and grade, and support Time-in-Grade eligibility.)
