This position is located within the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Plains Area (PA), at the Range Management Research Unit in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
In this position, you will provide centralized coordination and support to all ERRC research programs and administration for implementation, management, and evaluation of research activities.
This position is restricted to those within the local commuting area.
Duties
Evaluates, summarizes, and provides recommendations for improvement in rangeland soils and vegetation monitoring project documentation and data management.
Oversees and participates in the development of vegetation monitoring datasets and ensures availability to research partners and USDA-ARS partners.
Plans, coordinates, analyzes, and evaluates administrative requirements and management plans for research programs and operations, including establishing criteria to measure and/or predict the attainment of program goals and objectives.
Collaborates with research staff and USDA-ARS partners regarding projects requiring the application of rangeland ecological datasets to research and management.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
GS-12:
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-12 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-11 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience developing and maintaining websites for a variety of vegetation related projects; managing and analyzing large datasets; and evaluating the effectiveness of program operations related to data management and field data collection.
All candidates must reside within local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.
