Salary range contains multiple steps. In most cases, the salary will be set at the starting point of the range for the grade level selected for new federal employees. GS-13: $108,003.00 to $140,408.00 Per Year As needed, additional positions may be filled using this announcement. Duties

If selected for this position, you will be responsible for independently providing planning, designing, executing, and supervising Information Technology (IT) programs, projects, and work involving a variety of IT specialist areas which support the information management needs of the District of Minnesota. The IT environment includes personal computers, routers, switches, bridges, a wide area network and local area network, operating systems, and case management systems. Typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to: Directly supervising subordinate staff. Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting goals and priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work. Providing technical advice and assistance to resolve problems referred by staff Providing leadership, developing, evaluating, and improving IT support to promote overall district effectiveness and efficiency Managing/distributing workload, participating in the hiring process, resolving grievances and complaints, developing performance plans, and counseling employees regarding their progress. Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training. Performing advanced and complex informational systems design, development, test, and implementation of new applications to meet the needs of the United States Attorney. Monitoring network capacity and performance. Performing network diagnostics and resolves network problems. Performing tasks associated with the day-to-day operation. Responsibilities will increase, and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.

Qualifications

Note: In order to be considered "qualified" for this position, your specialized experience must be described in your resume. To be qualified at the GS-13 level, you must demonstrate possession of each of the following basic competencies AND at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in Federal Service as defined below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing specific details and guidelines. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or other organizations) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knowledge of available products and services; commitment to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes providing assistance to co-workers in the immediate office. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes: exchanging IT related information when called upon. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency includes reviewing computer related issues. AND Specialized Experience for this grade level includes demonstrating the ability to provide leadership and guidance to subordinate staff, providing training, and distributing and monitoring work in progress. Additionally, experience includes: evaluating and resolving hardware and software problems; providing user training and assistance on variety of routine applications; planning and improving information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements; troubleshooting end user computer hardware and software issues; configuring, installing, and maintaining networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, workstation and mobile device troubleshooting and support, and related hardware; maintaining systems accounts with various enterprise software programs. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
