About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at Fort Meade, MD.
Duties
Coordinate all administrative functions within the J1 and ensures subordinate Divisions and offices comply with all applicable policies and procedures.
Maintain continuous liaison and communication with other staffs to ensure assigned actions are handled within prescribed time limits and that responses conform to procedural and substantive requirements.
Communicate and coordinate executive level correspondence in reply to Congressional requests for information and four-star level inquiries from the Department of the Army and Joint Staff IAW with associated timelines.
Administer all aspects of personnel management within the operations section of J1.
Maintain the Principal J1’s personal and sensitive daily and long-range calendars events.
Assist with making travel arrangements for frequent and prolonged travel for the J1 Director.
Serve as liaison between the J1 and subordinate offices, relaying or obtaining information, scheduling briefings, and transmitting instructions as indicated.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET SCI clearance as a condition of employment and must complete a counterintelligence scope polygraph exam.
- Drug Testing: This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Employee must pass initial and periodic random drug testing.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- The incumbent must meet NSA personnel security requirements outlined in NSA/CSS Policy 5-1.

Maintaining suspense controls to ensure staff assigned tasks are completed within established time limits and responses meet desired requirements; 2. Providing administrative staff services such as drafting correspondence, developing policies and procedures, managing multiple calendars, or long-range operational planning; 3. Administering personnel management to include recruitment, performance appraisals, and awards, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
