About the Position: This is a permanent position located at Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) Field Support Operations, Fleet Management Expansion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Duties

Serve as the technical and administrative supervisor over field level maintenance personnel, exercising responsibility over work operations Plan daily, weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Develop performance standards, counsel’s employees on performance and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Determine equipment, supplies, and maintenance required. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the employee drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for the position.
  • Applicant must undergo a pre-employment and annual medical exam to meet physical efforts requirements.
  • Heavy lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs and occasional heaving lifting of objects up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Lead or SuperviseAbility To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT Works in tiring and/or uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Works on top and under vehicles in cramped or awkward positions. Frequently lifts and carries up to 40 to 50 pounds and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with assistance of other workers and with lifting devices. May be required to work from ladders or work platforms of varying heights. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside maintenance facility, outside at an unannounced field location, and/or in a lighted shop. When inside, frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, sometimes works in bad weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. Both inside and outside, workers are exposed to irritations and discomfort from dust, dirt, grease, mud, and a noisy atmosphere. Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, strains and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Work involves constant exposure to exhaust fumes and exposure to weather (hot and cold, rain and snow). Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions. Worker is exposed to possible serious accidents.
