This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.
Duties
Serve as Branch Chief, establishing objectives and goals providing educational guidance to design, direct, and implement faculty and staff programs to meet the educational and developmental needs.
Perform and oversee Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) process in support of the training mission.
Monitor instruction conducted by Faculty and Staff cadre to ensure conformity with approved course control documents.
Serve as training consultant to the Command's training departments on matters relating to training and training materials methods and technology.
Analyze training trends to provide guidance and policy advice on matters concerning development or modification of instructional materials.
Perform personnel management functions as a first line supervisor.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

This position has a Basic Education Requirement that must be met.
(1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
(2) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
(3) Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
(4) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. OR
(5) Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialize Experience: To qualify based on experience, your resume must describe at least 1 year of Specialized Experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience is defined as: 1) Planning and developing training products and services 2) Utilizing professional knowledge of theories, principles, and techniques of education and training to provide technical support related to training and education 3) Assessing training products and services for effectiveness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
