About the Position: The incumbent in this position serves as the Instructional Systems Specialist for the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) of relevant and educationally effective curriculum through application of instructional and educational technology and adult learning theory, located at Fort Novosel, AL.

Duties

Determine material or special equipment needed to support classes and coordinate with the appropriate section to obtain it. Develop material to create and sustain comprehensive professional, ethical military program. Collaborate with personnel supporting training and education implementation to discuss issue of mutual interest. Determine material or special equipment needed to support classes and coordinate with the appropriate section to obtain it. Coordinate instructional methods and material to ensure collaboration across training entities and programs. Identify requirements needed to obtain contracts for instructional products, design, deliver, or assessment. Evaluate individual faculty member technique to offer suggestions for improvement. Provide advice to instructors in the development of new training material.

Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training, including selecting appropriate computer software. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting trainings using Distributed Learning (DL) delivery methods such as, Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI), Video Teletraining (VTT) Instruction, and Web-Based Instruction Facilitated Training (WBIFT); advising instructor personnel in the development of course content and training materials; providing guidance to junior staffers ensuring the adherence of office policies, procedures and/or practices; and conducting research to maintain professional expertise on new and/or emerging education and training trends. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Instructional DesignInstructional ImplementationInstructional Program AdministrationStaff and Faculty Development Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
