You will serve as a WATERFRONT SPECIALIST in the PORT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL STATION. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.9% will be added to the stated salary.

Duties

You will be responsible for all pier maintenance coordination. You will be responsible for spill prevention and recovery operations. You will be responsible for assigning berthing space for all ships and service craft. You will work under close direction of the supervisor or higher-graded employee who provides assignment requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift license to operate a forklift with capacity up to 15k

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-5 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting higher grade specialists in the coordination of docking/ undocking work, berthing support, and waterborne support vessel activities. 2) Communicating with maritime personnel to understand status of situations; 3) Assisting with determining the steps and procedures for ship berthing or ship movement. (NOTE: THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME.)
