About the Position:
Serve as the Family Advocacy Program Prevention and Education Specialist in the ASA(M&RA) DASA(MPQ) Directorate. Responsible for overseeing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating policies and procedures in support of the Family Advocacy Programs.
The position is located at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.
Duties
Direct Army-wide Family Advocacy Programs (FAP) which include, Victim Advocate, New Parent Support-Home-Visitor, Transitional Compensation, Military Family Life Consultant and Response efforts.
Oversee the formulation and development of Army family advocacy program guidance and interpretation of higher authorities.
Independently develop and present proposed solutions to family advocacy program models.
Interact with a diverse group of individuals during crisis situations.
Compose a variety of written reports for senior level officials regarding the status of the family advocacy program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential.

Basic Requirement for Family Advocacy Program Specialist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes apply knowledge of behavioral or social sciences to develop and oversee the family advocacy program or similar domestic and child abuse prevention and response program; interact with a variety of individuals during crisis situations to include those in the medical, legal, and social service communities; assess situations that contribute to family stress in order to propose solutions; formulate prevention and/or harmful behavior policies and guidance; compose/evaluate written reports for senior level officials regarding the status of the family advocacy program covering prevention, child abuse, neglect and/or domestic violence. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
