Duties

Arranges and provides personnel for military funeral honors for off-post interments. Responsible for preparing orders for dependent travel for active duty and group burials. Knowledge includes office automation skills. Handle all entitlements dealing with expenses associated with funeral services. Briefs the status of pending mortuary claims. Exercise considerable compassion, patience and tact in dealing with civilian agencies and individuals. Analyze issues relevant to casualty operations, evaluate the situation, and take actions accordingly. Organizes, prepares and completes all the necessary paperwork associated with mortuary duties

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Specialized Experience- GS-09: To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized experience includes performing administrative duties such as preparing casualty reports, responding to request for information regard casualty operations; assisting in arranging and providing personnel for military funeral honors; and coordinating memorial affair operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Successfully completed two full years of graduate level education leading to a master's degree (36 semester hours) in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementOral CommunicationPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
