Duties

Plans, coordinates, and directs the mission of the garrison Casualty Assistance Center (CAC). Manages and provides Quality Assurance for the Army’s Casualty program in an Area of Responsibility (AOR) that touches several states, and supports Soldiers, Army Veterans, Spouses, and Retirees. The Army’s Casualty Program is inclusive of Casualty Operations, Mortuary Operations, Line of Duty investigations, Cemetery Operations, Casualty related Training, Fatal Accident Brief Support, and Mass Casualty Support. Supervises three or more employees in all aspects of their daily operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
  • This position has been designated as key and essential for mobilization and cannot be filled by an active reservist or retiree with call back orders.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Casualty and Mortuary AffairsManaging Human ResourcesOral CommunicationProgram Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
