You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) in the WEIGHT HANDLING EQUIPMENT (WHE) COMPLIANCE DIVISION of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will manage the execution of electrical/electronic engineering technical work and projects on WHE for all activities and tenants served by NAVFAC MIDLANT. You will assist the Chief Crane Engineer in the electrical analysis and design elements for WHE, such as repairs, modifications, and maintenance. You will make site visits to determine the extent and nature of problems associated with WHE. You will develop electrical component failure analysis; and prepare requisite scopes, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for projects and provide them to leadership.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required at times to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and/or safety shoes during field inspections and site visits.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing technical guidance under multiple engineering disciplines regarding the design, operation, and maintenance of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE); 2) Troubleshooting a wide range of electrical design elements (e.g. repairs, modifications, maintenance, etc.) of WHE and its component systems; 3) Applying technical engineering concepts, principles, and procedures according to federal codes applicable to WHE; 4) Performing common electrical analysis and engineering calculations to prepare contract documents to include scope of work, specifications, and cost estimates.
