You will serve as a Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Production Planning Division (Code 960) ,Production Department (Code 900), Nofrolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.
Duties
You will schedule, coordinate, and direct the accomplishment of work projects or operations by subordinate units through subordinate supervisors.
You will serve as Division Head within the Production Department, production control planning division, with responsibility for supervising the activities of approximately 152 administrative, technical, contractor, and military personnel.
You will assign work based on priorities, the difficulty of the work to be performed, and the capabilities of employees.
You will review work methods and procedures for opportunities to improve efficiency or effectiveness, and find ways to eliminate bottlenecks and barriers to production.
You will evaluate performance of subordinate supervisors or leaders and serve as reviewing official on evaluations on non-supervisory employees.
You will oversee development of technical data, estimates, statistics, and other information useful to higher level managers in determining which goals and objectives to emphasize.
You will ensure that all required resources, authorizations, potential execution efficiencies, package routing, and release are met for the expeditious release of work to the production shops.
You will identify cost reductions during the planning process, identify work that is unable to be accomplished, and contract or reject the work in a timely manner to insure key events are maintained.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience demonstrating technical knowledge of surface ship propulsion plants and auxiliary systems and components including but not limited to sea water systems, air condition and refrigeration, deck winches and steering systems.
Experience with technical characteristics, operation, maintenance repair and modernization of non-nuclear surface ships.
Experience with the principles, practices, and techniques of the trade skills involved in non-nuclear work with material procurement, receipt, inspection, storage and accounting.
Experience organizing, directing, and supervising a large and varied workforce composed of engineers, technicians, military and contractors with varied engineering disciplines including mechanical, structural, electrical, and electronics and administrative positions.
Experience defining problems and develop the best approach to planning U.S. Naval Ship maintenance, repair and modernization.
