Duties
Conduct tests and repairs of general and laboratory medical equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Analyze equipment failure modes and take corrective action.
Utilize knowledge of techniques, theories, and characteristics of electronics and electricity to service biomedical equipment.
Evaluate new equipment for compatibility with existing systems, space, and utilities.
Develop preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and systems.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
- This position has been designated as Emergency Essential and takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status. Additional training, medical requirements, and deployment responsibilities may apply to this position.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Employee must obtain and maintain a current and valid Federal Government issued United States Passport.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 40% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirement.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience working as a maintenance technician on Chemistry Analyzers, Hematology Analyzers, Urine Analyzers, Centrifuges, Apheresis Devices; AND 2) Experience performing preventive/scheduled maintenance services on medical laboratory equipment/systems.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
