This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestics Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Serve as a lead project engineering technician applying knowledge of electronic theory and circuit design, for the development, fabrication, adaptation, or modification of complex and complete mechanisms and electro-mechanical assemblies and systems.
Design and/or perform tests and experiments to measure and develop criteria
Fabricate specialized fixtures including circuit board assembly, soldering surface mount and miniature type components, chassis wiring, miscellaneous component, and assembly testing.
Contribute to the preparation of formal reports on special technical investigations or studies.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Researching new components to determine compatibility with other parts of the system; 2) Developing procedures for testing of systems and subsystem components; AND 3) Maintaining technical documentation of designs and test results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
