You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Storage Management) in the Personal Property Branch, Distribution Management Office (DMO) of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will be responsible for performing storage management Personal Property Shipping Office (PPSO) functions to include ordering, monitoring, and coordinating personal property storage requirements. You will serve as a Task Order Official (booking agent) for Marine Corps members, their dependents, and U.S. Marine Corps federal employees. You will identify all required services needed to complete storage shipments, exercise knowledge of the program required to engage the appropriate external agency and/or execute within assigned Task Order authorities. You will notify members/employees of storage expiration dates and approve/disapprove request for storage extensions. You will notify Transportation Service Provider (TSP)/contractor if shipment is to be converted to commercial storage and perform all other duties incident to storage management. You will coordinate storage for units deploying over 90 days to include the pickup and delivery of storage per Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune directive, contract, and various Marine Corps orders.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Arranging for the pickup and/or delivery of personal property shipments; 2) Performing tasks related to the shipment/storage of household goods (e.g. loss and damage claims assistance, processing shipment changes, tracing shipments, etc.); 3) Calculating, reviewing, and approving shipment costs, billing statements, and invoicing functions; and 4) Providing customer support while performing shipment and storage functions.
