You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (PERSONAL PROPERTY) in the Personal Property Branch, Distribution Management Office, G-4,of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will review inbound and outbound documentation for completeness, drafts messages or emails when necessary to obtain inbound documentation You will receive and reviews applications for moves between local residences You will input personal property shipment service(s) via transportation systems of records or other communication means with DOD approved servicing TSP’s for movement. You will review applications received by email from service members or Transportation Offices requesting property to be picked up from residence and/or storage facilities for either shipment and/or storage. You will maintain necessary files, regulations and consignment information is support of assigned functions.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Provide customer service for military and families on all phases of personal property shipments and storage; provide guidance on household good entitlements, processes, and procedures for relocation; track status and answer on technical issues for transportation support, information, and services; and review completed orders and/or claims for reimbursement. GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assist with customer service for pre and post personal property shipments; provide guidance on household good entitlements, processes, and procedures for relocation; track status and answer customers on technical transportation support, information, or services; and complete transportation forms and/or orders. In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
