You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT in the DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT DIVISION, G-4, of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will Interview personal property customers on an individual basis and determine owner’s entitlements to domestic and overseas shipment. You will determine entitlements and counsel military personnel on the Do-It-Yourself (DITY) method of shipment. You will process travel requests for military and civilian personnel traveling at Government expense on official orders to various destinations worldwide. You will review travel orders to verify entitlements and official authorization for travel. You will determine mode, routing and cost of domestic and overseas transportation which will satisfactorily meet the travel requirements of the military at lowest overall cost to the government. You will process travel requests via the DTS (Defense Travel System) and NON-DTS (traditional) processes. You will coordinate charter coach/carrier movements. You will utilize automated transportation request programs for requesting charter coach/bus services for base organizations. You will review the request, audits for accuracy and required data, then assigns a tracking number. Strictly follows DoD regulations in the solicitation charter coach bids for services. You will conduct unannounced visits to local charter coach facilities in accordance with DoD directives.

Requirements

  • You must possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying transportation regulations, methods, and practices related to Passenger Travel, and assisting with the military and authorized civilian personnel and their dependents traveling on official orders.
