You will serve as a TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT (OA) in the PASSENGER BRANCH, DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT DIVISION, G-4, of MARINE CORPS BASE.
Duties
You will process travel requests for military and civilian personnel traveling at Government expense on official orders to various destinations world-wide, via air or surface transportation.
You will process and assist dependent on the nature of the travel orders; urgency or importance of the trip; space available on air or surface carriers; and point of departure and destination.
You will review travel orders to verify entitlements and official authorization for travel.
You will determine mode, routing and cost of domestic and overseas transportation which will satisfactorily meet the travel requirements of the military mission at the lowest overall cost to the government.
You will process travel requests via Defense Travel System (DTS), and NON-DTS (traditional processes, as required.
You will review the request (s), audits for accuracy and required data, then assign a Transportation Movement Request Number (TMR) number or similar tracking number.
You will identify the Government Charter Coach Certificate (GCCC), invoice to the record on file at the Passenger Branch.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You must possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying transportation regulations, methods, and practices related to Passenger Travel, and assisting with the military and authorized civilian personnel and their dependents traveling on official orders.
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination

Education
In lieu of the one year specialized experience listed above, you may also qualify through one of the following:
Successfully completed four years of education above high school level.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
