You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR in the MARINER SILLS TRAINING CENTER ATLANTIC (MSTCLANT) of SURFACE WARFARE OFFICERS SCHOOL.

Duties

You will develop course curriculum or training plans appropriate to the subject matter area program. You will develop evaluation methods to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization's training program. You will review existing training material to determine its usefulness or need to develop new material. You will coordinate the types and capabilities of instructional methods, materials, and media used in training programs. You will assess performance of graduates to determine the effectiveness of existing training techniques and curriculum. You will analyze and coordinate learning objectives, training, and resource requirements to ensure an efficient and effective learning program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is primarily sedentary, requires some physical exertion including standing for extended periods of time to lecture/train students with appropriate number of breaks, as determined by instructor, to maintain instructor and student focus.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Instructing students/personnel in ship navigation, seamanship and ship handling principles and procedures; 2) Utilizing bridge simulators or similar ship handling simulators as instruction techniques and competency assessment methods to advance seamanship skills; and 3) Developing curriculum/training material and recommending improvements to navigation, seamanship and ship handling training classes. **NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.
