You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the Engine Training Section (N12B32), of the Engine Community Branch (N12B3), in the Total Force Management (N1),of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

Duties

You will coordinate the professional mariner training courses. You will develop guidelines, instructional methods, course materials, and training aids for use in employee training programs. You will plan, organize, schedule courses and implement training plans for mariner development and ship requirements that involves assignment to a specialty course or to a grouping of courses in a functional area You will determine the objectives and scope of programs, the subjects to be covered, and the criteria for program evaluation. You will advise employees and management on training program requirements, rules, and procedures. You will evaluate effectiveness of training programs to meet mission requirements and provide operational support. You will assist with curriculum development and course and instructor approvals, ascertaining the need for training and/or education programs.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector such as: Experience in designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive training programs that align with organizational needs and regulatory standards. Experience in conducting training needs assessments and gap analyses, providing recommendations for corrective action plans, and drafting development plans to address identified competencies for individual employees. Experience in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and instructor qualifications, utilizing analytical methods to assess curriculum quality and recommend improvements based on mission requirements. Experience in understanding various policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements, ensuring that training programs meet compliance standards and reporting discrepancies to management. Experience in managing training logistics with strong administrative skills, including course scheduling, documentation, and coordination with internal and external training providers to ensure seamless execution of training programs. Experience in demonstrating excellent oral and written communication skills, effectively collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including management and training participants, to address training inquiries and facilitate program success.
