About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization & Security, Joint Base Myer - Henderson Hall, Virginia.
Fort Myer is a 15-minute commute to/from the Arlington National Cemetery Metro Station, a 10-15 minute commute to/from the Rosslyn, Virginia Metro Station, and is accessible by bus transportation. The installation is approximately 7 miles from Washington D.C. and a short distance from major roadways and express highways.
Duties
Performs duties as the operations alternate point of contact for operational matters and manages the workflow and work assignments of lower grade operation specialists.
Assists with and reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and tasking's, augmentee supporting installation exercises.
Coordinates activities with staff during events, contingencies, exercises, and training.
Coordinates and tasks personnel, equipment, or facilities in support of operation for contingencies, exercises, special projects, activities, or events.
Shift leader during periods of BDOC activation, represents the Commander in tasking staff, organizations, and assigning missions to Crisis Act Team or Crisis Management Team.
Oversees the preparation of other routine operational records and reports.
Verifies and publishes operation plans and orders.
Prepares and conducts briefings for the Commander, visiting VIPs, conferences, and other events.
Prepares inspection reports and findings for the Commander's approval.
Conducts and participates in exercises.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- This position you will be required to perform shift work and/or weekend duty when EOC is activated.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, coordinating, monitoring a variety of plans to maximize effectiveness of operations. Attend meetings, synchronize staff actions, prepare and present briefings. Coordinate activities during events, contingencies, exercises, and training. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:. Business Administration/Business Management
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
