Duties
You will receive and screen incoming calls and visitors for the Commanding Officer and Executive Director and handle routine matters or refer caller to the appropriate office manager.
You will arrange conferences and meetings including preparing an agenda and notifying participants; develop background information and compose drafts of introductions and briefs to be presented at various meetings.
You will assist with the coordination of ceremonies and social functions sponsored by SURFMEPP (e.g., presentation of awards and retirements, etc.
You will maintain calendars for the Commanding Officer and Executive Director and ensure all background information is available prior to meetings.
You will prepare agenda for travel for the Commanding Officer and Executive Director to include preparation of travel orders, processing travel vouchers and monitoring travel card.
You will notify organizations and individuals of impending visits and arrange for transportation and hotel reservations and prepare travel vouchers and trip reports.
You will prepare and edit briefings and reports and review correspondence, awards, and directives for correct grammar, content, and format.
You will have demonstrated knowledge of Navy Correspondence Manual, Navy Directives Manual, Navy Performance Evaluation Program, Awards Program and Social Usage and Protocol Handbook.
You will have demonstrated knowledge of preparing travel authorizations and travel vouchers in the Defense Travel System (DTS).
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes one year to the next lower pay band, NH-01 (or GS-04 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing administrative tasks for an organization. (Examples of qualifying experience may include, and are not limited to: 1) preparing agendas or correspondence; 2) making arrangements for meetings, retirement ceremonies, VIP visits, or travel; 3) compiling data and reports for executives; or 4) Managing and maintaining executives' schedules or calendars.)

Education
Education may be substituted for specialized experience for the NH-02 as follows: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:
Have successfully completed a four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
-OR-
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
