About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Digital Communication Specialist, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders with responsibility for the planning, development, and execution of social media/web engagement within the Public Affairs Office.
Duties
Utilize multiple social media platforms to effectively and regularly communicate organizational activities to inform/engage appropriate audiences.
Monitor organizational policies/activities to ensure accuracy of digital communications, provide strategy guidance to management, and ensure timely public updates.
Analyze current social media trends and product performance reports to ensure consistency/effectiveness and provide guidance to leadership.
Utilize a variety of social media tools/software to create engaging content, provide performance reports, and advise management on potential improvements.
Engage with internal/external stakeholders and the public to develop and execute effective digital communication strategies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires 5% travel.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- This is a "Mission Essential" position. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes writing news articles, reviewing social media pages for accurate content and keeping up with regulations on Public Affairs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Masters in Public Affairs.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
