About the Position: Serves as lead Public Affairs Specialist in the Media Relations Branch of the Public Affairs Office, III Corps and Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Duties

Has responsibility for the content, accuracy, format, and distribution of informational products for public dissemination nationally, regionally, and material used in public communication. Making analytical judgments to deviate from standard practices in targeting informational products and messages to specific audiences and readerships. Provides guidance to assist public affairs personnel and commanders of subordinate activities in dealing with local issues. Performs Corps level reviews and clears articles and speeches prepared for public release by command authors. Make recommendations to the supervisor regarding the media marketing program to ensure that resources are available to maintain an aggressive, pro-active effort and to keep management informed about current media interests. Monitors contents of print and broadcast news media to keep top managers aware of current media interests that could impact on the timing and direction of Command decisions. Accomplishes necessary coordination with Department of the Army (DA), Department of Defense (DoD), Forces Command (FORSCOM), and other major commands on public affairs policies and procedures. Organizes and conducts conferences and other training functions to keep personnel current on policies and practices.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call based on the needs of the organization.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
