About the Position: This position will serve as Chief, Command Information Branch for the Fort Cavazos Public Affairs Office. The position will oversee, plan and coordinate the Command Information Program.
Duties
Develop plans and campaigns to achieve Command Information Program objectives.
Plan, organize, and coordinate the publication of the command's printed products; radio and television and other command information tools such as Facebook, Town Halls, and radio community updates.
Manage and evaluate the Fort Cavazos website and command social media sites for effectiveness of information on programs, activities, and functions.
Oversee writing, editing, photography and layout activities; video/audio production, editing, scriptwriting, broadcasting; Web page design and compliance; and communications research.
Provide guidance to subordinate and tenant public affairs staffs.
Serve as information source for command and staff personnel and target audiences on information campaigns, coverage of special activities and events, and media focus on items of interest.
Perform delegated personnel management tasks in directing activities of the Public Affairs staff.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position may require the incumbent to work nights, weekends or holidays in support of mission requirements.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing strategic communication plans to execute a public information program for a diverse audience; implementing command information programs involving production of podcast programs and video products; messaging and graphics in support of social media sites; and writing, designing, producing and editing printed products such as newspapers, flyers, or other authorized publications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above).
