You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the Production Department Safety Branch (Code 900S.1), Production Safety Manager (Code O900S), Production Resources Department Analysis & Business Manager (Code 900A), Production Resources Department Production Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will perform VPP presentations and provide information on VPP concepts.
You will utilize facilitation techniques at shop safety meetings to promote and encourage personal ownership of safety among employees, supervisors, and managers of all levels.
You will provide interaction with various trades who are responsible for execution of production tasks.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing a wide range of program management policies, concepts, practices, and principles to analyze and evaluate extensive operating programs in the department.
Experience and familiarity with department processes, operations, equipment, safety and work practices to enable the incumbent to effectively conduct surveillances, gather data, evaluate, conduct analytical studies, and provide consultation and assistance to department managers and supervisors.
Experience applying complex analytical problem-solving methods and techniques to identify interrelated program problems, draw conclusions, and recommend appropriate action to ensure program compliance.
Experience utilizing management informant systems, office automation systems and processes, computer applications, principles, and techniques.
Experience developing and implementing new automated systems for control and support of interrelated program operations and developing recommendations for improvement in program operations and objectives.
Experience preparing and presenting present evaluations and recommendations regarding complex issues including the preparation and presentation of reports, charts, and graphs.
Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with and facilitating cross functional teams utilizing knowledge of the principles of process.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate level education leading to such a degree

LL.M, if related
