This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Analyzes and reviews the inventory in the inventory database system and prepares necessary adjustments to paper balances, related paper trails, inventory reports and on hand quantities.
Receive, review and process all documents into an inventory database.
Reviews procedures used in inventory management analysis to identify existing and potential problem areas throughout the agency.
Reviews and evaluates daily and monthly inventory reports to determine accuracy of load tickets, move orders, transfers and other documents.
Prepare and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports concerning all transactions processed for paper and passport paper.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee are required to pass preemployment requirements prior to appointment.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Suitability/Non-Sensitive Low Risk security clearance.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
- Physical Effort: The works requires some physical exertion, such as standing, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stretching, reaching.
- Physical Effort cont.: or similar activities, lifting of moderately heavy items; specific but common physical abilities such as average agility and dexterity.
- Working Environment: Work is frequently performed in an office, shop and warehouse areas that may not be climate controlled.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.

To qualify for the Inventory Management Specialist, PG - 2010 - 7/9 , you must meet the following requirements:
Qualifications for PG-07:
PG-7 Specialized Experience: You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular specialized experience, education or training to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes Assisting in the analysis of various reports pertaining to inventory management; entering data and processing documents into an inventory management system; researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues regarding inventory discrepancies.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement with 3.0 GPA that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond a bachelors degree may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-07 level. NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required.
Qualifications for PG-09:
PG-9 Specialized Experience: You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular specialized experience, education or training to perform successfully the duties of the position or typically in or related to the work of this position. forecasting short and long range inventory needs; analyzing inventory management reports and the effectiveness of various options proposed to provide supply support; utilizing automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data; researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues regarding inventory discrepancies, system deficiencies, transaction reports; Reviewing procedures in inventory management analysis to identify existing and potential problem areas.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. of J.D., if related that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
OR
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education the first year (18 semester hours) may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-09 level.NOTE: If using education combined with specialized experience to qualify, a copy of your transcript is required.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
