About the Position: Serves as the deputy advisor and expert consultant to the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 with responsibility for providing coordination and advice internally and externally on highly visible issues relating to the training and operations community. Employs an expert knowledge of the missions and functions of the components of the training and education community which includes subordinate schools, training, and service centers and field operating activities.

Duties

Manages, plans and coordinates projects and actions concerning operations and activities of the training community. Develops policies and plans for strengthening coordination of the development of future Army training architectures. Resolves policy conflicts among DCS G 3/5/7 staff elements and between Headquarters, TRADOC, the Combined Arms Center (CAC), and the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM) elements. Reviews and coordinates G-3/5/7 projects and actions which influence other services or federal agencies in the training community. Monitors overall staff actions, projects, and activities. Serves as a first line supervisor, exercising the full range of personnel management responsibilities over subordinate positions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • This position may require temporary duty (TDY) for business for up to 20% of the time.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug testing.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-13) which includes: Developing and implementing program plans and policies to manage the training and operations of an organization; AND managing, planning and coordinating projects and/or missions to provide solutions to meet an organization's needs. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementDecision MakingManages and Organizes InformationProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
