This position is located in the Division of Information Management, Information Technology (IT) Department of the Phoenix Indian Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The position serves as the Service Unit's (IHS) Indian Health Service VistA Imaging Technical Consultant and is the principal VistA Imaging contact for technical support, training, and coordination of activities related to VistA Imaging. This position reports to the Director of Technology Services.
Duties

Serves as the VistA Imaging Technical Consultant for the Phoenix Service Unit. As such, provides technical support of VistA Imaging, a multimedia complement to the IHS Electronic Health Record (EHR) as well as a Picture Archiving and Communication System Imaging System (PACS).
The scope of such support includes training for PACS use and support of interfaces, diagnostic/clinical workstation requirements, and VistA Imaging hardware.
Position functions in a support capacity to assist the Medical Center and Service Unit facilities with technical problems, advise on proper installation, with emphasis on the PACS system, diagnosis problems and recover failed systems.
Serves as technical expert on computer software, hardware, and information systems technologies related to the VistA Imaging Project and provides technical advice, support, and training on VistA Imaging. Examples include: communication strategies (LAN and WAN), clinical systems integration strategies, existing PACS components integration, maintenance and service cost, upgrades and training.
Maintains current knowledge of related education and training requirements. Such knowledge is needed to support the Phoenix Service Unit's IHS initiative in VistA Imaging and related projects, or as determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications

GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: consulting with service line supervisors and staff in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting operating systems and related application software and training individuals in the daily operation of these systems.

Completion of three (3) years of graduate education leading to a Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management. (Must Submit Transcripts)

Possess a combination of education and experience as described above that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-11 grade level. (Must Submit Transcripts)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Independently determines information systems requirements including local and remote data storage, back-up, shadow server set-up, network requirements, wireless system security, tele-video systems, and contingency plans.
