About the Position: This position is located at United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), ASSISTANT CHIEF OF STAFF,SAFETY OFFICE, at Fort Libety, North Carolina.
Duties
Serves as Lead Safety and Occupational Health Specialist responsible for advising the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Commander and staff on matters pertaining to the safe operation and conduct of high risk training.
Serves as Safety Program Manager for all Live-Fire/Explosive Safety Programs within the Command.
Provides guidance, personnel management, and supervises activities of Federal civilian subordinates.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with SCI access.
- Must be deployable throughout CONUS and OCONUS in support of operations and training exercises.
- Pre-appointment physical required.
- Percentage of time spent TDY is up to 50%.
- This is a deployable position.
- This is a Career Program-12 position. All CP12 careerists are required to complete Level I skills training as outlined in the CP12 ACTEDS Plan.
- This Position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP)/ Drug Testing.
- This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential".
- This position designated that the incumbent may be On Call.
- Must posses Driver Liceinse.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Applying knowledge of Live-Fire operations, Range operations, Explosives and demolitions operations sufficient to develop and implement new techniques and methods to resolve critical problems and hazards that arise from the high-risk training; 2) Applying knowledge of safety and occupational health management principles and procedures to resolve critical problems; and 3) Applying knowledge of safety and occupational health to manage operational tactical risks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
