Duties

Serves as the primary point of contact for the USASOAC air worthiness program. Serves as the principal civilian safety manager and staff advisor by providing authoritative and expert advice on SOH prevention matters. Serves as the principal technical advisor to the USASOAC Director of Safety, the Commander, staffs and all levels of management regarding current and proposed programs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance based on a single scope background investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, employee must successfully pass a urinalysis screening prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • The employee will be required to successfully pass physical examinations as required by Federal and Office of Safety and Occupational Health Administration guides as a pre-employment condition.
  • The position may be required to deploy into OCONUS areas where they will perform duties/training under austere and potentially hazardous conditions.
  • The incumbent may travel up to 50% to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • This is a Career Program-12 position. All CP12 are required to complete Level 1 Skills training (Safety and Explosives) as outlined in the CP12 ACTEDS Plan.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes formulating and promulgating safety policies and procedures for a wide range of accident prevention measures involving risk management; safety education and promotion; tactical and non-tactical operations, fire prevention; motorcycle safety, radiation protection, ammunition, explosives, range operations, contract air inspections, hazardous communication plans, industrial waste management, occupational health initiatives, evaluations of industrial hygiene and environmental reports and ensures compliance with federal occupational regulations for testing and inspections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accident/Mishap and Hazard Investigation and ReportingProblem SolvingProgram Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
