About the Position: This position is located at Security Operations Training Facilities Support Division, Special Staff Division Fort Liberty, NC.
Duties
Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager with responsibilities for managing, planning, coordinating, implementing (continued below)
and evaluating the safety programs for the Security Operations Training Facility (SOTF), a Brigade+ size element within the US Army Special Operations Command.
Serves as technical advisor to the Commander and staff on all matters pertaining to Safety and Occupational Health.
Develops and implements a tactical safety program designed to support a diverse spectrum of Army command and Special Operations unique training requirements.
Develops and implements safety standards for a wide variety of worldwide special operations training under various geographical and climatic conditions.
Requirements
- The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret with SCI security clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position. In accordance with AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
- Employee will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- The military ACU is the duty uniform (when deployed, or in field environment).
- Employee must obtain and maintain a valid state driver?s license.
- Employee must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle Operator License within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
- Employee may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission requirements.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying knowledge of national safety and occupational health laws, policies, regulations and standards to plan and implement programs; 2) Applying knowledge of range safety, tactical doctrine and operation planning process sufficiently to conduct independent risk management assessments; 3) Applying knowledge of safety and occupational health laws and regulations sufficiently to identify, evaluate, and control or abate hazards; 4) Applying knowledge of accident investigation and analytical techniques sufficiently to assess human, material, and environmental factors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
