Duties
Responsible for managing, planning, preparing, and executing of the Army Futures Command (AFC) Orders and Events Branch operational functions, activities, reporting criteria, orders production; managing taskers, ceremonies, and special events.
Report regular progress of operational matters to the Chief, Operations Officer.
Implement subsequent guidance to mitigate and address unusual technical problems.
Coordinate and synchronize day-to-day AFC Support Battalion (AFCSB) operations for events and services.
Provide situational awareness for actions necessary to maintain health, life, safety and mission essential functions in accordance with AR 500-3, US Army Continuity of Operations Program Policy and Planning.
Lead working groups and AFCSB staff through the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP) during operational planning and exercise design development.
Coordinate and synthesize all staff inputs to the development of AFCSB plans and orders in areas concerning emergency management, antiterrorism and force protection issues.
Coordinate and manage ceremonies and protocols for special events and distinguished visitors (DV).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- Business Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time.
- Stress is inherent in the nature of work. Short-suspense items and other time-sensitive actions contribute to heightened demands
- Under crisis operations, expanded work hours, 7-day work week, or extended duty hours may be required.
- May require a three-year probationary/trial period.
- This is a term position that is obligated to a employee overseas.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Researching mission requirements for input on developing Emergency and/or Contingency plans; 2) Developing and implementing After Action Reports; AND 3) Analyzing completed exercises for effectiveness and reporting status to management officials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-2/GS-11).
