You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST of NCIS.
All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
You will use and develop security systems designed to control access, detect intrusion and losses, and protect assets and personnel.
You will operate basic computer hardware and software in production of records, reports, and training.
You will train to provide leadership, advice, and guidance to train and share knowledge of law enforcement.
You will be utilizing and updating security policy and procedures.
You will develop and implement procedures to cover multiple security objectives to include anti-terrorism, force protection, information and operational security, and physical security.
You will review, analyze, and resolve varying, difficult, and highly complex security problems.
Requirements
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Applicant must be above to obtain a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD); Physical Security Certification (PSC) within 24 months of assuming position and maintain through entire length of appointment.
Qualifications
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning, organizing, and following through by implementing comprehensive security programs involving various security disciplines, to include information, technical and automated data processing (ADP) security.
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in the design, installation, and operation of security programs, equipment, devices, methods, and training for defeating or circumventing criminal activity. Planning and implementing vulnerability assessments/security surveys for an overall security plan and installation of security systems.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
