You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (EMPLOYEE BENEFITS) in the FECA Division of COMPACFLT HRO NORTHWEST. Salary Range: GS05: $44,316 - $57,607 GS07: $54,896 - $71,366

Duties

You will serve as a specialist in administering the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act (FECA) Program. You will provide advice to employees and supervisors of workers' compensation claims due to an injury and/or disease. You will conduct case management of current and former employees on the Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP) periodic rolls.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

For the GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing principles, practices, and procedures of injury compensation to provide support in administering a Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) Program. For the GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least three years of general experience that includes one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-04 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector gathering and analyzing basic facts and drawing conclusions; and communicating factual and procedural information orally and in writing. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For the GS-07:
Successful completion of one full year of graduate level education
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

For the GS-05:
Successful completion of a four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
