About the Position: Serve as Quality Assurance Specialist for aviation weapon and support systems assigned to regional operational activities within and outside continental United States areas of responsibility.
TERM position: This is a Term position, not-to exceed 6 years. There are no provisions to be made permanent without further competition.
Duties
Ensure quality assurance systems and product management are running smoothly.
Provide instructions, advice and training to ensure command objectives, programs and projects are understood.
Advocate as a liaison between the Aviation Field Maintenance Directorate, the Contractor and all supported units.
Communicate with personnel (military, civilian, and contractor) in the safe and proper repair of aircraft and to prepare various reports, evaluations, and recommendations.
Manage production, quality and execution aspects of field maintenance and systems modification work order (MWO) programs on all aircraft and related aircraft components.
Monitor contract maintenance operations and procedures to include maintenance management specifics/workload, surveillance techniques and flight operations for accountability.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Individual may have to work outside in severe environmental conditions. Incumbent must observe safety precautions and wear protective clothing and devices to avoid hazards at work site.
- When deployed to an Outside of Continental United States location, the employee assigned to this position is designated as Emergency Essential.
- This position is designated as Emergency Essential. In event of crisis or war, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties of the position to ensure the success of combat operations or combat essential systems.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Incumbent may be required to ride as passenger of Army Rotary-wing Aircraft (Utility and Cargo).
- Incumbent must sign mobility agreement.
- This position is subject to a mobility or rotation agreement as a condition of employment. You will be required to relocate based on management needs for the duration of employment in this or successor positions.
- Position subject to deployment. Incumbent must be able to pass and maintain standards for a deployment physical.
- Incumbent must possess and be able to maintain a valid state driver's license and must be able to obtain and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license as required by country of assignment.
- Incumbent subject to on-call and and irregular tours of duty.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- Financial Disclosure is used to assist agencies and employees to avoid conflicts between duties and financial interest. This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Analyzing and evaluating documentation for quality assurance programs; AND Managing production and quality for field maintenance and systems modification programs related to rotary wing aircraft, aircraft components, or ground support equipment; OR Resolving complex quality issues related to rotary wing aviation maintenance, repair, testing or quality inspection. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.
