About the Position: Vacancy is for one position with the U.S. Army Communication Electronics Command (CECOM) located at Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania Selection may be made at the GS-05,GS-06 ,GS-07, GS-08 or GS-09 grade level. This is not a Virtual/Remote position.

Duties

Participate in projects related to the development and prototyping of parts as required on weapon systems, communication systems, vans, shelters, and vehicles. Assist in the development of original designs or modifications of existing equipment and parts as required on weapon systems and other items for which Tobyhanna Army Depot has prime responsibilities. Train other engineering technicians in use of various Computer Aided Design (CAD) /Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). Coordinate with other division personnel with regards to utilization of fabrication tools, equipment, materials and techniques. Assist in the development of cost estimates, including research of material, and development of man-hour requirements for fabrication.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • One year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. (Foundational) .Must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technology Management Certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for the GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Using and designing schematic diagrams; AND (2) Performing preventative maintenance on electronic equipment/subsystems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for the GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Using or designing schematic diagrams; (2) Performing preventative maintenance on electronic equipment/subsystems; (3) Applying electronic formulas involved in testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, or developing electronic equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience for the GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Assisting with designing electronic and/or electrical components/parts ;AND (2) Troubleshooting and/or performing maintenance on various electrical components such as: weapon systems, communication systems, vans, shelters, and vehicles, etc., to ensure operational readiness; AND 3) Operating Computer Aided Design (CAD) /Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software to design component parts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Education

Specialized Experience for the GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1)Developing electronic and/or electrical components/parts ;AND (2) Evaluating engineering proposals or schematic diagrams and providing formal recommendations ;AND (3) Planning and directing the installation of complex electronic systems and associated facilities ;AND (4) Reviewing plans, specifications, and estimates for proposed designs for electronic/electrical systems (e.g. weapon systems, communication systems, vans, shelters, and vehicles). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
