You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST of NCIS.
Duties
You will serve as a technical advisor on security, vulnerability assessments, and law enforcement training requirements.
You will provide direction, policy guidance, and oversight of subordinate personnel that are responsible for conducting assessments and examining physical security conditions of foreign ports, airfields, hotels and other world-side operations venues.
You will be subject matter consultant for the protection of DON assets and develop, recommend, coordinate and oversee the execution of policies involving antiterrorism (AT and Force Protection (FP), and physical security.
You will recommend equipment, methods, policies, procedures, and systems to enhance the level of security in the protection of U.S assets to include installations, and sensitive/classified information and material.
You will represent NCIS at high-level meetings or briefings with senior and high-ranking civilian and military representatives outside of NCIS.
Requirements
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Applicant must be above to obtain a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD); Physical Security Certification (PSC) within 24 months of assuming position and maintain through entire length of appointment.
Qualifications
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Applying methods and techniques for conducting security vulnerability assessments and assist visits of difficult and complex situations.
- Reviewing, analyzing and resolving varying, difficult and highly complex security problems.
- Using and developing of security systems designed to control access, detect intrusion and losses, and protect assets and personnel.
- Operating basic computer hardware and software in production of records, reports and training.
- Training to provide leadership, advice, and guidance to train and share knowledge of law enforcement.
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Utilizing and updating security policy and procedures.
- Communicating both orally and in writing.
- Developing and training of personnel in security.
- Analyzing and resolving complex security training issues
- Developing and implementing procedures to cover multiple security objectives to include anti-terrorism, force protection, information and operational security, and physical security.
