About the Position: Serves as Exercise Planner for the G3 Exercise Cell for the 20th CBRNE Command responsible for all requirements to develop and execute intricate and complex exercises in support of U.S. national military strategy and regional contingency requirements for joint theater level and multi-national exercises.
Duties
Analyze and recommend changes to Forces Command (FORSCOM), and Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) joint exercises planning documents based on requirements, resources, and mission priorities.
Ensure that an effective exercise design is in place to identify the training needs and ensure developmental opportunities for the training audience are available.
Identify solutions to address exercise training shortfalls, target specific groups of the strategic, operational and tactical execution fields to provide the most effective means to accomplish the exercise goals and objectives.
Conduct active liaison with other DA, Joint organizations, and multinational commands for the purpose of training scenario development and integration.
Serve as the Exercise Planner representing the command during exercise strategy and concept development meetings and conferences.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Access (SCI).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test screening, and random drug testing thereafter.
- Work requires overnight travel from normal duty station on a regular basis (up to 60% of regular duty time). WORK MAY REQUIRE POSSIBLE TDY TO REMOTE CONUS AND OCONUS locations.
- This position requires the selectee to occasionally lift, handle or moved items or containers with equipment for exercise execution in excess 50 pounds

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) conducting comprehensive tactical military exercises to provide feedback during execution phases of a Command Training exercises.
2) developing battle simulation scenarios for contingency operation exercises; AND
3) recommending modifications to regulations and command guidance as it pertains to exercises and training events.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
