This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Financial Management Division (FC), Office of Resource Management (FR).
This position(s) primary purpose is to perform as a Budget Analyst working closely to monitor and successfully manage and implement Agency wide budgeting and spending plans.
Duties
As a Budget Analyst, your typical work assignments may include:
Prepare and justify budget plans and expenditures in support to the DEA Financial Activities.
Monitor high level DEA spending plans, prepare fund control activities and budget execution.
Provide authoritative budget interpretations of Congressional legislation, policies and precedents.
Research, analyze data, and prepare budget reports for Top Executives.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Performing studies assistance relating to budgetary procedures and policies, program efficiency and accomplishments, to include cost-benefit analyses on proposed new programs; 2) Aid in advising Agency personnel on funds control and financial systems budget procedures and processes; 3) Contribute to providing fiscal/budgetary policy and regulatory guidelines for the organization; and, 4) Assist in reviewing and analyzing program office requests for realignments or reprogramming of current year funding and increases to prior year funding.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Performing studies relating to budgetary procedures and policies, program efficiency and accomplishments, to include cost-benefit analyses on proposed new programs; 2) Advising Agency personnel on funds control and financial systems budget procedures and processes; 3) Providing fiscal/budgetary policy and regulatory guidelines for the organization; and, 4) Reviewing and analyzing program office requests for realignments or reprogramming of current year funding and increases to prior year funding.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
