About the Position: Serves as a generalist and subject matter expert in a wide variety of assignments in the field of metrology with the primary emphasis on the calibration, measurement and operation of primary-level measurement standards and systems.

Duties

Serve as a senior metrology technician with a working knowledge of most systems, standards, instruments, components, measurement techniques, system software, and laboratory processes in the assigned area. Study the theory of operation, capabilities, and limitations of these standards and systems due to environmental effects and other factors. Review laboratory and customer test requirements and devises optimum calibration, measurement and quality control processes to satisfy these requirements. Calibrate and maintain the most complex measurement systems and standards which cannot otherwise be supported at other laboratories in the Army metrology system. Calibrate secondary reference transfer standards and other types of devices to disseminate measurement traceability to lower level laboratories and to customer facilities.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes collect, analyze, transform, display, discuss and report data collected in the processes of calibration of standards and measurement of test devices in metrology; develop, design and utilize systems and procedures related to hardware and software; data collection, analysis, and inference; data reporting.
