Duties
You will serve as an INDUSTRIAL SPECIALIST (SHIPS) in the CVN BRANCH (CODE 334) of the MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER (MARMC) located in NORFOLK, VA.
You will serve as a business agent and funds administrator for MARMC with other activities involved in the assigned availability and contracts.
You will maintain liaison with customers, ship’s force, MARMC functional departments (Engineering, Waterfront Operations, Contracts, Comptroller), and the contractor.
You will coordinate planning and estimating, design specification preparation, scheduling, and review specifications to ensure completeness and conformance to authorized work.
You will conduct the arrival conference, weekly progress conferences, and represent MARMC at all conferences pertaining to the assigned availability and contracts.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a comprehensive knowledge of ship repair and shipbuilding procedures, of overhaul and production methods/process, and of quality control/assurance requirements. This includes a working knowledge sufficient to plan, estimate, schedule, and expedite labor, machines, and materials in an industrial environment.
Experience providing funds management and accounting procedures, methods, and practices promulgated by Comptroller manuals sufficient to comply with regulations/law regarding receipt, maintenance, and transfer of funds.
Experience communicating both orally and in writing sufficient to compose technical reports and briefs and to conduct meetings and conferences for/with diverse groups representing public/private, military/civilian, and managerial/worker interests.
Experience applying a working knowledge of contract administration and procurement regulations required for the position.
