You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) in the Board for Correction of Naval Records of SECNAV BCNR.
Duties
You will review, analyze, and determine adequacy of supporting materials for correction of Navy and Marine Corps military records (e.g. discharges and retirements, pay, benefits, awards etc.).
You will review applications of average difficulty and determine the adequacy of supporting material based on examination of and analysis of the application and related data.
You will communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
You will analyze facts, identify problems, report problems, and recommend corrective or other appropriate action.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience reviewing and analyzing supporting materials for the correction of a record;
Experience determining the sufficiency of evidence for cases submitted; and
Experience determining the applicability of relevant regulations and policies to records correction.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
