Duties
The incumbent is assigned with the responsibility of maintaining the appropriate operational security posture for an information system or program.
Incumbent is tasked with projects of limited scope and complexity designed to develop skills and proficiency. Assignments are provided with clear definition of objectives and methodology.
Incumbent ensures IT systems compliance with laws, regulations, guidelines and internal policies.
Prepares compliance reports and status reports, identifying issues, and reporting to senior management.
Participates in the identification of problems and the development of solutions.
Incumbent assists in the identification, development, and maintenance of functional requirements, system requirements, and user manuals for interface programs necessary to transfer and process data to and from other systems.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
For the GS-09 level: One year of specialized experience is equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-07) in the Federal Service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience for the GS-09 level is defined as: Reviewing and maintaining system generated audit logs to investigate abnormalities in compliance with maintaining system security posture. Supporting or testing system compliance efforts in adherence to FISCAM. Evaluating system access request. Providing status reports regarding system changes and problem reports to stakeholders of complex financial systems; ensuring system compliance with established directives; updating system user documentation.
For the GS-11 level: One year of specialized experience is equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-09) in the Federal Service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience for the GS-11 level is defined as: Analyzing trends, investigating abnormalities, and providing reports of findings on system generated audit logs in compliance with maintaining system security posture. Leading system compliance efforts in adherence to FISCAM. Evaluating system access request. Creating status reports regarding system changes and problem reports to stakeholders of complex financial systems; ensuring system compliance with established directives; overseeing updates of system user documentation.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.
For the GS-09 level: Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in Federal Service.
For the GS-11 level: Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in Federal Service.

Education
GS-9 Substitution of Education for Experience: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
