You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the NAVAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMAND (NETC) DIVISION of NAVAL AVIATION SCHOOLS COMMAND.
Duties
You will review software technical designs to verify support systems requirements are satisfied.
You will evaluate computer systems, software, hardware, and network architecture to identify potential security risks.
You will troubleshoot software packages to identify and resolve customer information technology (IT) issues.
You will brief customers and stakeholders on the planning, design, and development of information technology (IT) systems throughout an organization.
You will manage software and systems functionality to ensure systems meet organizational requirements.
You will write concept statements for managerial approval of hardware or software enhancements.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code (722) and (751) proficiency level Intermediate the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following and Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
(1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been aside by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Evaluate new information technology (IT) tools and trends to meet business requirements of customers.
(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Brief senior leaders on information technology (IT) policies to streamline corporate resources.
(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency includes: Diagnose networked system failures to isolate sources of problems between equipment, networks, systems software, and application systems.
In addition to demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
1) Applying information systems security concepts and methods from multiple disciplines in order to review and evaluate security incident response and recommend resolution of risk analysis for IA security concerns; 2) Applying technical proficiency in security and computer systems (i.e. managing and optimizing network infrastructure, including work with servers, hubs, routers, switches, and other related equipment and tools for network management); 3) Serving as an Information System Security subject matter expert provides collaboration experience with Information System Security Manager (ISSM) for a command to ensure compliance with IT security policies; 4) Developing policy, plans, and procedures for IT systems security; 5) Utilizing policies and directives in assessing and/or managing a cybersecurity workforce and ensuring an organization's IT compliance. This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in the specialty area (722) - Information Systems Security Manager - Cybersecurity Mgmt and (751) - Cyber Workforce Devlpr and Mgr - Strategic Plng and Policy and as a condition of employment incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2, which include:
1. Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned, and;
2. Participate in a continuous learning program as described in SECNAV M-5239.2). A minimum of 40 hours of Cyber IT/CSWF related continuous learning annually documented in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor.
