You will serve as a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST in the SECURITY OFFICE of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.

GS-09- $68,297-$88,786
GS-11- $82,633-$107,421
Duties
You will provide technical advice and assistance to command personnel through Security Manager in the areas of personnel security (e.g. eQIP and PSQ).
You will review and evaluate reports of investigation and other data to recommend personnel employed meet security standards.
You will advise management on procedures for adverse security determinations and employee rights.
You will ensure mandated Security, Education, Training and Awareness (SETA) requirements are met.
You will administer the Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP) for assigned personnel.
You will assist management in developing, implementing, organizing and coordinating initial, recurring and refresher SETA requirements.
You will conduct personal interviews and nominate for interim clearances and assignment to sensitive duties.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) certification within six months of assuming the position.
Qualifications
For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing personnel security duties by conducting security investigations and adjudicating eligibility for security clearances to maintain efficiency and effectiveness within a command.
For the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting with personnel security duties by responding to inquiries for verification of security clearances and conducting security interviews to obtain information associated with security clearance eligibility.
